The Pro's Walk:
This used to be hole 10, now it's 1.
The best play off the tee is aiming down the middle of fairway. Trees are on the left and right. That one thing that’s different about this course and others in the area: trees everywhere.
A tight fit between two trees challenges your second shot to the green. Big hitters will hit over the trees. If you try for that, you’d better have a draw on that because you don’t want to leave it left (and wet).
Advanced players might try to cut the corner. The trouble here is that a good drive may give you ideas of clearing the pond with a second shot. But you can use a wedge to play short of the pond and still have a chance for a birdie with a good pitch. But if you push it you’re looking at the pond on the right or the trees on the left. And, of course, there’s sand on both sides. Definitely a challenging hole. Not an easy par five.
The Green
Like many of our green, this one two-tiered. You want to put your second or third shot on the same tier as pin. If not, you’re looking at a possible three putt. Unlike most other greens here, this one is relatively flat, but it is sloped and has those two tiers.
